About me

Hi, my name is Jennice. I am a counseling graduate student currently studying at the California Institute of Integral Studies focusing on relationship and family therapy.

I’m a first-generation Latinx queer person originally from the high desert of Northern Nevada. Before entering the world of therapy, I spent nearly ten years working as a bodyworker, offering massage and coming to understand people and their stories through body awareness and somatic approaches. This foundation deeply shaped the way I understand healing and human experience. I hold a strong commitment to the wisdom carried within the body and orient my work through somatic awareness, embodiment, and the connection between emotional and physical experience.

My style is warm, collaborative, and deeply focused on your emotional and somatic experience. I aim to create a space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore your whole self in a safe, grounded, and welcoming environment.

My Favorite Places to Cry…

IRL:

Outside of the therapy space, I find freedom in movement, rugged landscapes, playing with clay, and dilly dallying near the water’s edge. I maintain a stronghold to life by way of loud laughter, and staying connected to sources of nourishment through play, travel, silliness, and tropical fruit.

My approach is integrative and continues to evolve through ongoing training and supervision. I am currently engaged in an ongoing contemporary Gestalt training in Portland: Gestalt Skool, which has provided a strong clinical and relational foundation for my work. I value present-moment awareness and view the therapeutic relationship as a central tool for growth and change.

In my work with relationships, I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), while also incorporating liberation psychology to address the ways systemic oppression can shape internal experiences. I support clients in developing insight, emotional awareness, and deeper connections to themselves and others. I also incorporate somatic and grounding practices as resources for building safety, embodiment, and trust in the body.
