About me

Hi, I’m Angelo!
If you’re looking for a therapist who leads with authenticity, curiosity, and kindness- but can also be direct (I’m from the East Coast)- we might be a great fit. People tell me my demeanor puts them at ease, and I promise: I’m sweeter than I look.

On a personal note, I hold both privileged and marginalized identities as a white, transmasculine, queer person who grew up in a rural area. My practice is grounded in a social justice and liberation framework-a perspective shaped by my pre-counseling career in racial and social justice nonprofits. Liberation remains at the center of my worldview and bridges my personal and professional life today.

My most recent debt journey includes a Master’s in Counseling from Portland State University with a focus on clinical mental health. I'm also passionate about gaining continued skills and am currently a member of an Ongoing Gestalt Therapy Training Program of Seattle, where I study contemporary Gestalt Therapy for individuals and relationships. Alongside this work, I volunteer as a facilitator at The Dougy Center, where I’ve received specialized training in grief across the lifespan.

In the therapy room I work relationally-meaning I prioritize genuine connection between us to foster awareness and growth. When appropriate, I love bringing humor and creativity into the space.

My heart lies in working with queer and trans communities, from teens to elders, as well as artists and individuals across all backgrounds navigating internalized oppression, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, major life transitions, and grief. I’m equally committed to supporting men (cis and trans) and those with masculine identities, helping them unpack societal conditioning—looking closely at shame, emotional repression, and ways ‘the code of masculinity’  harms us all.

Every client’s story matters. I’ll honor your unique strengths, lived experiences, and identities while acknowledging how systemic oppression impacts mental, emotional, and physical health. Our world is rapidly changing and our environment is sick and you shouldn't have to process life’s pain and challenges all on your own. If we’re a good fit, I’d welcome the opportunity to support you through difficult chapters of your journey.

My Favorite Places to Cry…

✌︎  Airports - love a cry ‘n fly combo, always feels cinematic

☹ Watching movies, even bad ones

❀ Bernal Hill in San Francisco (I need a new hill here, any recommendations?)

IRL:

Outside of the counseling room, I’m a voracious consumer of music (everything from modal jazz to Italo-Disco to doom metal) and I enjoy playing music and going to shows. Creative art practice is central to my life and well-being. Some of my other favorite activities include powerlifting, lounging by a river in the sun, creating engaging games for my little chihuahua mutt, and playing pool (mostly poorly).

How I Work

genuinely engaged, rather than playing the “blank slate” therapist

In my practice, I integrate Contemporary Gestalt, Narrative, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through an active, collaborative approach that values authentic connection. This means I prioritize showing up as my full self—genuinely engaged rather than playing the “blank slate” therapist. Through using awareness and choice to foster growth, my non-judgmental, values-driven style creates space to rewrite narratives that no longer serve you, identify what matters most, and explore living in greater alignment with those values

I work from the belief that you may have learned ways to cope in childhood or in other relational dynamics that worked and helped you survive, but might no longer be working for you in the present. I believe the  therapy room is a place to safely experiment with new ways of being. Together, we’ll experiment with approaching situations differently in your life and explore areas to increase your own sense of agency, meaning, and choice.

If this way of working speaks to you, let’s connect. I’d welcome the chance to explore these possibilities together.
