About me

Hiya. My name is William.

I believe we all deserve healing, self-acceptance, and love.  My approach to therapy is collaborative: We’ll explore what needs tending, tap into your own wisdom, and through awareness work, gently release what’s no longer serving you. No jargon, no judgment, just real talk and steady support.

A little about me: As a white, straight, cis, able-bodied therapist at Crybaby Counseling, I recognize that I may not be the first choice for everyone seeking care here, especially in a practice centered on serving Black, Brown, Queer, and Trans communities. I’m here to support where it feels like a good fit, and know that I’m committed to holding space for the pain and injustice our systems create. I see my role as engaging with fellow Gen X’ers, as well as cisgender men and women, to unpack the dominant narratives and societal constructs that harm us all.

A brief history: I was conceived in Portland, born and raised in the Bay Area, and after a few detours, I returned to Portland and have called it home for the past decade. Therapy isn't my first career rodeo, I've spent many years developing professional bonds in tech and the service industry, leading large teams, and learning that relationships are everything. Every path I’ve walked has led me here, to this work.

My education: I obtained a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Portland State University with a focus on Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling. My major coursework has included: working with people with disabilities, human development, multicultural counseling, group therapy, career counseling, addictions counseling, and vocational counseling. I am a life long learner so my education did not stop at graduation. I'm engaged in Portland Gestalt Skool where I'm committed to my own self work through a contemporary Gestalt lens. I value consistent supervision and am under the care of Daniel Kelley-Petersen, MAEd, LMHC, LPC, NCC and Pamela Ganem, MS, LPC, NCC.

My Favorite Places to Cry…

IRL:

When I’m not in session, you’ll find me cooking elaborate meals, watching many movies a week (silly and serious), or catching a musical or opera. I also recharge by hiking and swimming, sauna and soaking, and hotsprings throughout the PNW.

How I Work

Clear the fog, amplify your voice, and make space for the life you want.

My approach to therapy is relational and deeply human, because you're not a problem to fix, but a person to unfold. Together, we'll uncover and celebrate the resilience, wisdom, and unique brilliance you already have, even if it feels buried right now. My role is to help you shed the weight of confusion, shame, or fear so you can step more fully into your truth and live fully as YOU are, not who you think you SHOULD be.

This isn't about positive thinking or glossing over hard things. It's about honoring your whole story, the struggles and strengths. We'll work relationally, which means I won't hide behind a professional therapist voice. I'll show up as myself - curious, engaged, and real. We'll build trust at your pace, because therapy works when you feel safe enough to take risks. Your lived experience will guide us - you're the expert on you; I'm here to reflect, spark new awareness in you, and ultimately support you to uncover more choice in your life.

I’m currently deepening my practice through advanced training in contemporary Gestalt therapy, a powerful, experiential approach for those ready to move beyond reflexive old patterns and cultivate more authentic connections in their relationships. Gestalt work is about sharpening present-moment awareness to expand your choices: imagine mindfulness meets meaningful action. It honors the creative survival strategies that got you here, while gently challenging what no longer serves you.

Ultimately, I want to support you to find a home in yourself. Let's work together to clear the fog, amplify your voice, and make space for the life you want.
